Our Solution

The homeowner had decided move into a smaller home on a golf course in Kent, WA. Before moving in, she engaged in design and construction to upgrade it to everything she wanted. The main floor consisted of the kitchen, living room, an office, a guest suite and a hall bathroom. We converted the basement into a full master suite and a lively bar ready for Seahawks parties!

The kitchen features Kraftmaid cabinets, Bianco Antico granite counters and a glass backsplash. The exhaust fan over the slide-in range is also a part of the cabinet package. Kraftmaid created it to match the cabinets and included a 600 cfm Vent-A-Hood already pre-installed so it was very easy to install. There is also a Sharp microwave drawer under the counter which is amazing because it is out of the way and not on the counter anymore. Connected to the kitchen is also a casual dining table and a fireplace that we covered over with travertine ledger stone.

The main living room is a mixture of old and new. The new table and red chairs are ready for poker parties with a drop glass chandelier above. Custom iron railings are combined with painted box newel posts and wood stained handrails that both define the space and lead the wall downstairs. A wall of her bookcases line on one wall and the seating area faces the golf course. The windows over the stairs are Hunter Douglas shades on a remote control so they can be safely moved. The wall above the stairs showcases a travertine wall surrounding a touching painting of her late husband.

The guest suite upstairs was converted from the original master suite. The new bathroom has a porcelain tile floor leading into a curbless shower. The vanity backsplash and accent in the shower are a jeweled marble mosaic. The frameless shower glass extends from floor to ceiling but has a space cut out of it for the moisture to escape and not get caught in the shower. We also converted the walk-in closet into a shoe and bag closet.
